Default School 1960 v 2007

School 1960 vs. School 2007

Scenario: Johnny and Mark get into a fistfight after school.

1960 - Crowd gathers. Mark wins. Johnny and Mark shake hands and end up mates.

2007 - Police are called, SWAT team arrives and arrests Johnny and Mark. Mobiles with video of fight confiscated as evidence. They are charged with assault, AVOs are taken out and both are suspended even though Johnny started it. Diversionary conferences and parent meetings conducted. Video shown on 6 internet sites.

Scenario: Jeffrey won't sit still in class, disrupts other students.

1960 - Jeffrey is sent to the principal's office and given a good paddling. Returns to class, sits still and does not disrupt class again.

2007 - Jeffrey is given huge doses of Ritalin. Counselled to death. Becomes a zombie. Tested for ADD. School gets extra funding because Jeffrey has a disability. Drops out of school.

Scenario: Billy breaks a window in his neighbor's car and his Dad gives him a whipping with his belt.

1960 - Billy is more careful next time, grows up normal, goes to college, and becomes a successful businessman.

2007 - Billy's dad is arrested for child abuse. Billy is removed to foster care and joins a gang. Psychologist tells Billy's sister that she remembers being abused herself and their dad goes to prison Billy's mum has an affair with the psychologist. Psychologist gets a promotion.

Scenario: Mark, a college student, brings cigarettes to school .

1960 - Mark shares a smoke with the school principal out on the smoking area.

2007 - Police are called and Mark is expelled from School for drug possession. His car is searched for drugs and weapons.

Scenario: Vinh fails high school English.

1960 - Vinh goes to Remedial English, passes and goes to college.

2007 - Vinh's cause is taken up by local human rights group. Newspaper articles appear nationally explaining that making English a requirement for graduation is racist. Civil Liberties Association files class action lawsuit against state school system and his English teacher. English is banned from core curriculum. Vinh is given his Y10 anyway but ends up mowing lawns for a living because he cannot speak English.

Scenario: Johnny takes apart leftover firecrackers, puts them in a model plane paint bottle and blows up an anthill.

1960 - Ants die.

2007 - Security and ASIO are called and Johnny is charged with domestic terrorism. Teams investigate parents, siblings are removed from the home, computers are confiscated, and Johnny's dad goes on a terror watch list and is never allowed to fly again.

Scenario: Johnny falls during recess and scrapes his knee. His teacher, Mary, finds him crying, and gives him a hug to comfort him.

1960 - Johnny soon feels better and goes back to playing.

2007 - Mary is accused of being a sexual predator and loses her job. She faces three years in prison. Johnny undergoes five years of therapy. Becomes gay.
( I think 1960 gets the ☺ from me ! )

LOL I've got another one:

1960: Johnny does a burnout in his dads XK Falcon. Local copper gives him a smack across the back of the head.

2007: Jonny does a burnout in his dads BF Falcon. Special Hoon Squad appears with helicopter and tanks and arrests Johnny. Johnny serves time in prison for being a menace to society and his dads car is crushed. All week media has a beat up on hoons and how they are the antichrist. Government changes laws so all cars are limited to 80kays an hour and V8's and Turbos are banned for anybody under 70. Friends of Johnny are given counselling sessions. Harold Scuby is elected Prime Minister.

Scanario: Phill gets bullied for 3 months and finally calls bully a 's h i t h e a d'

1960: Nobody even knows about it except the two kids involved

2007 (1990s actually): Phill is suspended for three days for use of obscene language. bully gets off. Phill and his Dad have to attend a meeting with principal, form master, social worker, and two other councilors before Phill is allowed back in class.

*sidenote: Phill's dad horrifies all eggheads present by turning a 15 minute meeting into almost 45 minutes by giving them a grilling about their lack of a clue and how they are actually giving these kids what they want.....3 days off school.

That is so close to the truth it's scary.
Personal example:
early 70's, too young to have a drivers license but old enough to own a rifle and regularly go bunny busting out the back of Sofala. (near Bathurst).
One time o mate managed to accidentally shoot me in the leg, still got the scar to prove it. Nothing serious but as the bullet was lodged in the leg needed a trip to hospital. Get to hospital, explain the situation, got bullet removed. Local Bathurst cop attended to take report. When hearing what had happend he simply said "well that'll teach ya to be more careful next time" and left it at that. Nothing more was ever said.
Had the same thing happened today one can only imagine what the consequences would be.

Scenario: Craig steps into class and says "Putt putt ding ding curry curry" to an indian teacher

1960s: Craig gets the strap, then sits down and continues to work.

2007: Craig gets sent to Time Out, then has to see the assistant principle, then the principle and appologise to the teacher, have parents called then proceed to get suspended for 10 days

2007: Mission accomplished with 10 days off school.

So true.

What a sad world we live in. While there's a lot of good, life was more care free back in the old days (the stories from older folk sound good).

Abuse?

So having one drink of alcohol is ALCOHOL ABUSE?

The world is fubar, the stereo-typical young person is even worse. Just wait 20 years and you'll see how wrong you are.

Yes some of them grew up to be lesbian feminist academics that never had kids themselves and are now dictating what should be done with kids these days according to their distorted view of what society should be like.......this is a generalisation of course.

i think it would be more fun now. we can get away with so many more things. tatts, nudie bars and mags, women have a right to think now, women have the freedom to dress/act how they like, our cars can look totally individual instead of just reversed chromies or wire wheels, huge big screen tv's, dvd's, computers, able to see everything that is happening with the world from your house via the net, can communicate with like minded people via forums and meet new friends, can access banks 24/7, late night and weekend shopping, always something to do etc. etc. etc.
those were good times, but these are good times too.
there will always be change - both good and bad, but we have a lot of good changes we no longer want to live without
i try and not look at the grass on the other side, i just make do with what i have - and realise how lucky i am

Dont you think it can also be detrimental as well, all the electronic stuff that you have mentioned there also allows ALOT of kids to be glued to them like there is nothing else to do..when was the last time you actually saw kids building a go-cart and running the thing down a hill.over and over again, actually dont we have a lot of obese kids from lack of exercise and all of the fast food outlets, if i had the choice to have my period of time over again i would, i never needed a mobile phone at school, what for?, mind you the internet banking is great, yes, the atm,s are too, but these are more the necessities which are convenient...you want to make friends then get off your b..s grab a footie and get out side that was the way or a bat and a ball..kool

Just a bit of an extention to the first one mate.

Johnny and Mark get into a fistfight after school.

1960 - Crowd gathers. Mark wins. Johnny and Mark shake hands and end up mates.

2007 - Crowd gathers, Johnny arrives ready for the fight. Mark arrives with about 10 of his mates. Johnny it flogged while Mark watches.

Why cant we just do it like it used to be done in the 60's.

Bring back the good ole days!!!
forgot to add:
year 10 and 11 students catch the whole thing on their mobile phone.
each and everyone of them is arrested and charged with MANUFACTURING CHILD PRON.

the problem with people/kids today is they never got the slap on the ars when they deserved it. plain and simple.
look at the previous generations and how they turned out, now its "cant hit your kids", look what the youth of today has to bring to the table.
anyone that calls it child abuse needs a slap up the side of the head as well for producing little brats that know they can do anything they want with little to no consequences.
