but what sort of screw type thing holds in the speakers? What sort of tool do i need to get them out? /inb4 pliers

Memory says that they are a male torx screw, hence a female torx bit. But they may have more points than that. Been ages since I've seen them
Either way a 5mm socket works well in removing them. I may be wrong on the size thought. They may be 4mm or maybe 6mm but a small sized socket does work. Cheers

It's called an E type socket. Good hardware stores will have them.

mate use a 5mm socket does the job i did not only two days ago worked great.
