Hey gang, I've been thinking alot lately, I know I've been thinking because it hurts. But anyway I can get my hands on some King Springs. Packing your standard KYB shocks, I was wondering, without going as far as getting short travel shocks which Kingspring is for the ED?
Lows or Superlows? Plus, would Lows make much of a difference? The ED sits a couple of metres off the ground...

Well I would go lows.
Superlows look cool but are a bit unpractical...I mean unless you do track work I dont see the point of it being "that" low. Although I cant remember exactly how low "lows" are exactly, but I am sure its enough for a big improvement over stock.

I would use lows...superlows are great for looks, but really hinder cornering ability. What you are actually doing is upsetting the geometry to a point that the cars roll centers are higher than designed, so you get pitch and roll into corners.
Lows are a practical, and sensible height. As a note, I just installed superlows into the wifes NL Fairlane Concorde, and whilst looking fantastic (it doesnt need to handle, its the grocery cart) when I installed some 18x8 wheels with 245/40/18's front and rear, it scrubs.....now off to get some more ELGT's for her car.... Superlows on a track would be terrible... |

i have superlows in my ED and it has no cornering problems it handles excellently. been out driving in the hills a couple of times now and it really sticks to the corners at high speed.
however if i was going to do it all again i would fit lows. superlows are too low, you have to slow right down for bumps in the road, reverse diagonally out of driveways etc

I'm stoked with the response there guys, I was happy as can be when I bumped into a customer on weekend with a phat looking EB when he told me that the Superlows are just fine with standard shocks!
But just one more question, the legality of superlows... are they legal in NSW? Anyone had issues with the porkers? I need to know this because of the line of work I'll be going into and no its not the RTA before I start getting hate mail. But I did have a gander at the Ultra Lows, that would have been awesome, but its a daily driver the old Monty and even with KYBs she's a bit of a boat on corners.

i have superlows alround and dont have many problems with them. i do get scrapage on some speed humps but its generally not that bad. only other problem i have is tyre rubs on the plastic inner guard on the front when cornering hard. only does it with 17's though. stockies its fine.

and the point is that puss.y footing around everywhere worth while?
Its not like lows are "high".....Im jus talking from experience. I had super lows (even cut) and its just a pain in the backside. But hey if you have no mechanical sympathy then go for it.

when putting super lows all round in an EA fairmont ghia do you have to change anything like putting shortend front struts and shockers or is it a matter of take old springs out and super low springs in.

Thanks gang for the generous input, I'll be the new owner of some fresh out of the wrapping Super Low King Springs and one day I'll pick up some super fine cross drilled slotted rotors from DBA with that awesome Kangaroo Print and some Bendix pads to go with it.
Next stop supercharging that donk...

with NSW laws you are fine to put in anything as long as you have 4 inches/10cm free under the car in the lowest point with the average amount of people you would have in the car so yeah hope that helps for what its work

Its true that lows dont make a huge difference but it is still definitly noticable. Gives more of a sporty look rather than a dumped look.
Heres a before and after of mine. Back sits nice but front didnt seem to be affected too much. ![]() ![]()

Holy resurrected threads batman.
I've dumped me bad boy on Super Lows, now I'm sizeing up some nice alloys (nope no chromies going on this old boy!), but I'm torn, common sense 17" or go all out and 19"s of raw alloy. Choices, choices...

I have King Lows as well as when I got them fitted I didnt ask for Super Lows only Lows..............
![]() Lows leave about a 1 inch gap from the top of the tyre to the gaurd but superlows will get rid of any gap.......... Correct me if I am wrong.......... If I park next to a stock EF or EL that is not lowered at all there is a big difference BUT if I had Super Lows fitted there would be a HUGE difference
