Default I think my car's a little faster now ;)

Well, after about 6 hrs on saturday arvo/night, I now have to change gears myself I (with much help from my younger brother) put nice tight T5 from an EL in the old ED, and she runs like a dream! I'm so stoked, I had to share it with you forum lads :P

All in all, it was actually a peice of ****, with the only hard parts being when someone dropped the auto tranny on my fingers (lots of swearing there), and when we snapped a bolt off in the flywheel (got lazy and used a rattlegun for something we shouldn't have). Also, I got my little brother to fabricate a couple of bits for the clutch cable that weren't in the kit (he did very well considering he's only 17 LOL), which is why the changeover took a little longer than we had anticipated.

I have only one problem, in that the ABS light is now stuck on, but I think it'll just be a fuse from when we left the battery terminals loose for the first 250km's of the drive back to melbourne LOL. That was a bit of a scare actually, because we stopped the car, and it wouldnt start but the smartlock light started going nuts, as did the guages... Also, I couldn't be stuffed putting the last section of exhaust on, it's just too much stuffing around, so I kinda left it at my mum's house... I'll go get it next weekend I swear :P

Oh, and I have had one scare with the manual so far. I haven't put a clutch switch for the cruise in yet because I used the Mal Wood pin so there's no bracket for the switch yet. I hit the clutch (stupid me!) on the highway, and the car saw what I'm guessing to be anywhere between 6200 and 6500rpm. I got scared then... but it didn't seem too fussed.

The T5 has also highlighted another problem, that i knew was there, but avoided the issue, where-by the car won't rev well over 4600 (under load). It's like it's leaning out, or choking, but it's a massive dead spot over that. Time for some more mods I think ;)

Sorry for the boring read guys, but I had to tell someone :P

Jared.

Oh, and I'll put some pics up of my little mod day, for those that may for some reason might wanna see the install. The pictures may explain why we were allowing only around 4-5hrs for the entire swap-over though...
