I'd even go so far to say as the dyno print out is in HP.. 200 odd rwkw is still not too shabby...
THe guy selling seems like abit of a newbie... but if the price says @ less than 7k it is an OK buy

have you done work on the engine? any modifications?
08-Sep-06 A: Hi there, its had a new computer chip put in, a new full exhaust system, plus headers, heads flowed and balanced, high rachio pistons, dyno-charted at 275kw 12 months ago...most of the work had been done when I purchased it. but its been sitting in the garage for 11 - 12 months, doing nothing.. Thanks for enquiry. tiarakm i ain't believing unless engine bay shots

I can go around for you and take some shots and post them up if you like??
Or maybe Ask one of the other members who dont have anything to do during the day and live around the area so they can take day shots as I work 9 to 5  and mine will be night shots There was a thread somewhere with all the members from South East Suburbs - surely there is some one out there that can take some day photo's for you???????

Here are the pics.....
     I'm calling bullshit to all the work he says it has done. That looks to me to be a standard Series 2 XR8 engine bay. They are standard series 2 EL GT Headers. he said it had a full new exhaust system through it. They guy is either dumb and doesn't know what he's got, or he's trying to fool someone. It definitely DOES NOT have 274rwkw OR 274rwhp. Maybe he got it dyno'd somewhere where they use rw****erWatts. The bidding on the ebay item has finished and someone won it for $6900. That is a BARGAIN! was that you Ford?? Or someone else? It's basically a carbon copy of my old XR8, except this one has a bodykit. For $6.9k, it's a VERY cheap car. It's got a 3.45LSD, Explorer engine, 5 speed, bodykit, etc. But having said that, there's a series 2 xr8 on this site for sale, blue, immaculate condition, auto, and he's only asking $10k for it. Man, how the market for V8's has died :( Sad sad day. |

The car is going to need some love.
Check things like upper radiator hose, heater tap, coolant leaks, clutch feel (heavy clutch = stuffed = $700 replacement), LSD tightness, gearbox noises, engine noises, etc. If you were the winning bidder, I'd be happy to come along with you and help you check the car out before you buy it. I've owned one and became pretty accustomed to how they should feel/drive. It's a bit of a drive to clayton, but I always accept some corona's as payment ;) |

I almost put a bid on that because it's just so cheap. Only things that put me off were a) it's a V8 b) It's got a GT scoop (why? WHHYYYY??) and c) It's a V8.

I can tell you right now it's not 11/98. It's 06/97 as you said.
I am almost 100% certain he is lying about the engine modifications, so if the car is not upto scratch when you go to see it, you can use that as a get-out-of contract clause, because the description of the car was innaccurate, causing you to bid under false pretences. So atleast it gives you something to fall back on if there is something wrong with the car. As I said, if the bank says yes, and it's a go ahead, I'd be happy to come and check it out with you. Let me know. |

For once i dont actually mind the GT bonnet scoop i think it looks good in that colour/bodykit combo.
6.9K is a steal for that car! so im assuming you should be prepared to spend at least a few grand getting it up to scratch and RWC. |
