If the stingray had got him anywhere else, he probably would have survived.
Apparantely one of the nurses at Cairns Base alerted Ch7 well before the family knew. If that's the case, shame on them.

RIP Steve.

Well, it's the next day, and the only thing I can say is that it still really hasn't sunk in for me.

He was one bloke you'd think was indestructable, that not even a Mack truck could stop him.

He battled Crocs, snakes, and all manners of dangerous critters - he educated many of us on his passions - he was an Australian icon - above all that he was a father of a family - sincerest thoughts go out to his family.

Like him or not - everything he did, he did with passion - a true representation of the Australian spirit.

RIP big guy, you will be missed!!

RIP Steve Irwin. His shows were a really good thing... light hearted way of education millions. Very, very unfortunate.

Steve Irwin Quotes
The best one for me was
"When I talk to the camera, mate, it's not like I'm talking to the camera, I'm talking to you because I want to whip you around and plunk you right there with me. " Steve Irwin

I agree, how could you possibly HATE someone like Steve Irwin? He was always happy, Perky, and had a smile on his face, he was entertaining, and his ocker demeanour was an absoloute laugh! He was extremely good at what he did. His emotions and dedication to his wife and kids was real and second to none. His Persona was no act, and he deserves respect.

You people who hated him for whatever reason, or thought he was an embarrasment to australia, shame on you, just shame! The world had their caricature of the average australian croc hunting bloke cemented in their minds WAY before Steve became a household name.

Who could replace him as the face of Australia?

Theres a evening show on radio station TripleM, called the Spoonman.

Basicly its a midevening talk back show.
I usually find it amusing as Spoonman is pretty controversial and gets people fired up about things.
Last night he overstepped the line, bagging Steve Irwin saying that he was an animal abuser and animal terrorist so to speak. On the day of the guys death, it was a real low blow.
Although Spoonman has had this opinion for Irwin for many many years and does acknowledge Steves contributions to animal preservation and all that. I just think it wasnt very appropriate last night.

So you see, its not just a few guys on a forum having thier say unfortunatly.

Steve is sorely missed worldwide, a real life Crocodile Dundee.

you can only pity the people who say comments like those feminest hags....no 1 deserves to die but evil scum. sadly it is always the good souls who are taken and the evil scum are left stealing,raping,killing...not to mention people who have no respect for a man who has only deticated his life to saving wildlife, educating people on the wildlife and caring for his family and friends god bless him he is a true person who will be missed as much as diana, bruce lee and elvis all around the world

Listen i feel sorry that he died and his poor family. but come on this was bound to happen. there is only so much croc wresteling, snake grabing, spider chasing you can do. he was playing rulete.. Its true he was a great ambassedor for aus and a larakin. but unless you lived in a cave you had to see something like this comming..

my two cents anyway

Even if we were all of that opinnion, him dying as a result of a stingray is something no one would see comming. Maybe a crocodile but not a stingray.
