good to see your other half out there and having a crack. i have been asking my wife to have a go for ages.
with the reaction time, was it 0.577? cuz anything under 0.400 is a foul. :( BTW, thats quite a nice time for a Wheezer with a few k's on the clock. I remember !Gn|T|0n's EL Fairmont Ghia V8 ran a 15.35 (a few years ago) and it had a couple of mods. (exhaust, roller rockers and extractors). He has now managed to take another second off his times though.

Beetus your xr would easily do a 15 with a manual v8, my motor is that tired that i had to disconnect the engine breather from the throttlebody and make up a little catch can to stop it pumping oil into the tb haha.In regards to the reaction time they have changed the way it is read on the time cards, now a .000 is perfect reaction time and it goes from there so in the old style it would have been .577 but now its read as .177.I dont know why they changed it beacuse when i first started going to the drags it was just as you said in your post. There was also an el xr8 that did the same time as my car.By the way now the missus is an official revhead, shes addicted to the drags and cant wait to get back. Thanks for the positive comments guys much appreciated :hihi:

You'd better get that zippo out Al :P (my guess is a low 15, not a flat 15)

Trust me its worth it, just for the sake of being different, then I am off to Blue Power. Power (at least a little more, will be mine come AFF Drag Day). Oh yeah to the topic, 15.7 is ok I guess, although these days it seems a bit naff, but for a car with those k's etc its alright.

Yep i was born in a country town haha good spot. When i said stock i guess i meant stock motor and tune,my bad.Its got a cat back and a unifilter. It came with a cat back exhaust already but it was very holy and it was cheaper to replace with the same style rather than a ford replacement, woops i forgot my cai.Damn im just lookin like a big fat liar now.I did previously own a 91 eb ghia 5litre that was bog stock in every sense, paper filter ,ford exhaust, old ford plugs,250000 km that ran 15-6 then two weeks later some idiot smashed up the **** end while i was stopped and kinked the roof and made it so only 1 door would open.I know im a hypocrite for hassling people out saying their cars are stock but im just a cranky lonely guy with no mates, oh well thats just me :sm_headba

Windsors don't seem to be affected by km's all that much, unless they have skipped service intervals. There's a lot of pics of motors that have done 400,000km plus that still have the hone marks on the bores. I've seen a members NL 5.0 pulled down after 550,000km that still had the hone marks, and ran 120-ish rwkw on the dyno with just the usual exhaust/extractors.
I ran 15.4 in my EF with a 3" exhaust and 195 stockies on the rear at Heathcote. They changed the .400 = perfect reaction time in the US to .000 to make it easier for noobs, I wasn't aware they had already started it here too.

When my EL was stock it did a 15.8 on a 32 degree day at Heathcote. I have since taken one second off that time

Mad I should pump my 363km 5.0L down the track and see what she runs. Needs some new injectors though, might borrow 'em off the wreck!

Some are faster than others. I drove a ED Fairmont manual with an exhaust with 215,000 on the clock. He showed me the papers and he was running a 15.1 on the strip and a 15.3 on Gtech...:lookedat:......I have no idea why it was quick but it nailed me to the seat. Must of got the pick of the bunch.Must of been made for the boss hey? Ive driven alot of EB-ED-EF-EL`s 302`s and 308`s since n they dont come close its so wierd. My mate comes with me who is a mechanic and him and his brother have EB`s. Even he was scratching his head. Belive it if you want or dont i dont really care i drove the thing i know.
Anyway you have to look around because some are duds...some are average...some are good.....and like the one i drove some are bloody awsome!

My eb was the everglade green 1 with the sprint mags at the motorplex on wednesday.First pass was a 16-0 but the missus was really nervous and didnt warm the car up and didnt stall it on the line, hey still a good effort for a first timer. It got the best time by stalling to 1000 on the line, she stalled it up more but it went slower each time, i presume because it lost the sling shot effect when the convertor was loaded right up.Live and learn its all character building.

Interesting, well it does state that stock quarter mile times for factory e-series v8's are around the 15.6-8 mark. Iv been wanting to get mine down the track for quite a while, but being a student i dont have $$$. Reason being is i think mine wouldnt get close to a 15.7 at all, despite the full exhaust system.
To be honest i cant even get wheelspin in my car, even when loading up the stall. The power in the 1st gear doesnt feel right to me........Anywho i wont know what im running untill i actually take it down!. Goodstuff AUtickford. |

i have know idea what my eb xr8 will do, seeing as s.a doesn't have a working drag strip (which is crap), i guess i wont know. I do know its probably done more than 300,000kms and it doesn't miss a beat. Beats my bro's el easily. And its reliable
![]() Great work AuTickford and your other half.
