Default short shifter into ef 5speed

hello guys,
just wondering...
i wanna make my gear stick alot shorter than what it is.
any suggestions?

is it something u can just chop off to a length u want?
if so, then will the gear knob and the leather boot still fit alright?

or can u buy whole new levers?
if u can buy new levers are they pretty easy to replace?

any help would be much appreciated
thanx alot guys

dave

While shortening the lever will make it feel shorter, It just now requires more mechanical force. For a true short shift you need to buy a short shifter. A Rip shifter as Damo suggested, or B&M Ripper Shifter etc. All these are very good, but cost upwards of $350. I am trying to organise a group buy for some US made billet shifters here if you are interested ;)

I've got a shortened lever just for the fact that I was sick of having something that looked like a broomstick as a gear lever. Jim Mock Motorsport did mine for me but most metal working places should be able to cut the middle section out and weld it back together.

You can buy a shortened gear lever from BPT.
