Be very careful, the wifes AU had the same symptoms, when turning right it would make a grinding noise - everwhere else was normal. A wheel alignment in Doveton did not resolve the problem.
Checking the brakes showed that something was wearing on the inside of the brake disc and it was the lower ball joint, but I could see why. Following her on the Sth Eastern I noticed sparks and rang her to slow down, when she stopped I saw flamwes from underneath the car. The upshot is a bill for $1,145 to fix the mess. If you can repair this yourself, DO IT NOW or drive it VERY slowly to a mechanic or suspension place to have them check what the fault is. |

First I reckon you pull off the wheel in question and check to see how much meat you have on the pads. You'll be able to tell the difference between the pad material and the metal pad plate itself.
If you've got heaps of meat, then take it to get it sorted, if not, replace both front sets. Whilst you've at it, DBA slotted rotors are the go. If you do it, get them from Hightek brakes, delivered to your door all up should be around $330. You've got many able blokes to help you set it all up over your side of town Simon, but if you can't round up any help, bring all that to my place (driving carefully of course), plus three bottles of Dot 4 brake fluid of your choice and I'll put it all on for you! LOL! All the best with it! GK

Sounds like you've gone metal to metal on the pads & rotors maybe .
The stock brakes in the falcons aren't too good anyway , I've had to slam mine on 3 times since owning the car , and i get exactelly the same problem , lingers for around a week and slowly gets better again . I though i was metal to metal at first on mine, but it was just the piston in the caliper/ or the pad itself jammed on a bit of an angle from whacking the brakes on , few light taps with a lump of 4x2 wood on the caliper area and it frees up the pad again..lol ( yeah bit dodgy i know , but it works ! ..lol , its just the buildup of brakedust jaming the pad i think ) . It will either be one of the 2 , or worse as others mentioned above. If it is a jammed a brake pad on an angle , you can sometimes also free them up by reversing and slamming on the brakes ( not whiplash hard though ! ).. get it up on the jack ,take the wheel off and spin the disc by hand , have a look around the caliper and brake pads while spinning it , look from ontop of the caliper and see if the pads either side of the disc are parallell to each other too ( make sure 1 isn't tilted on an angle ). gl mate , cheers
