Default AFF Heathcote Drag Day

Yeah I know there is another thread, but there were a few e series guys there so I thought thats good enough reason to make a thread here.

Anyway, had a blast! I dont think the Ghia has even been through that kind of torment in its life before; but it handled it fine; although the tranny was making some strange noises on the way home, it'll be fine in the morning im sure..LOL

I had 5 runs, I could of gone a bit further in the DYO is I did redlight it; I was so angry at myself as I hammered the time; but alas thats drag racing (more in my build thread soon if you care..LOL)

So my best was 15.6516 @ 92.06MPH

I was really keen on a 15.5, I cant believe how hard it was to find just a tenth! I tried everything, manual shifting etc and the bus would have none of it.

Also got a good happy snap, have a guess who this is; cleaning his rims!

Oh and if anyone have some pics post them up, my brothers are not so good...LOL

yeah ur car was very consistent john good job. and dam i saw elfpv but it didnt even click that it was the turbo v8 fairmont i wanted to see under the bonnet. i didnt run mine as i discovered my rear main was leaking and didnt want to make it worse and drop my oil all over the track. my brother ran his au 3 xr8 and got a 14.95 first time out but his car axle tramps really bad so we are going to have to do something about that.
also how was swanny's 13.77 that makes him the quickest n/a 6 now.
congrats to everyone on there times.

Also, kudos to Swanny, 13.77 is amazing!! I'm sure OED will have something up his sleeve to take the title back :P

Sounds like you guys had a good day, i really must make the effort to come to the next one... hopefully with the NF doing better than a 17.4... lol :P

Congrats to all the e-series guys who ran yesterday. Was good to finally met heljas! Unfortunately I was a tad busy to meet and great with the rest of you. Oh except the guy with the green ED?? (or EB) who parked next to my XB in the carports, and had an issue with the wheelnut. Not sure if it was the same car that ended up being pushed off the track later on... If it was hope you get your car sorted out soon!

Yea saturday was a awesome day, was good to see people beat/match there times, great consistancy guys

congrats to swanny for the 13.77, which he beilives was only possible due to it being cold in the moarning but its still a ripper of a time!

all in all was a excellent day, except for when the holden ute, blew its motor? and left the 1/4 mile all with oil, that was a bummer.

Well the day was good but I still need more work on my launch and even though I now have my computer problems fixed and my gearbox shifts when I want it to . It still does not like the heat and starts to slip after a few runs .. My tune was great and when my motor and the day heated up I dropped off big time..
I need a new hob switch and change my diff before I hit the track again and see how it goes..

Cheers

I was really looking forward to doing a mid 13 pass but I was doomed from the start, had a lock nut on one of my wheels seized on (Took about 2hrs to get it off) and then my diff let go.
Managed to get 2 very conservative 14s passes in at least (Diff went on the 3rd).
Great day as a spectator at least.

Looks like I'm only driving my AU for the next few weeks.

I was a great day I had and a very busy day for me too as I went to the VSS cruise as well like some others. My PB was 15.9 sec and I was happy with that time as i lost about of time in R/T and wheel spin if this didnt happen I reckon I would have done a 15.7 or less. Well done to all members for their times you all did well congrats from me LOL. Also thanks to the organisers, EFFALCON, Spoolman etc for the day.

I only have one thing that I was not happy with and this doesnt just go for this cruise up and that is that we never seem to travel as a group or even attempt too. We missed the turn off to this event and I was annoyed in the way that I was leading another 6 cars and I had no idea where I was going. IMO a cruise is a cruise and not a speedway where we have to to 130kms per hour to catch up to a group and this was not the case yesterday where I was sitting on 120kph and no sign of any members so I would like to know why this is?

I think in furture if there is going to be a cruise up to an event then the leader needs to take a count of how many cars attended the meet and make sure that we stay as one group. TRAFFIC IS NO EXCUSE!!!!! IF WE ARE ONE GROUP THEN OTHER CARS WILL OR SHOULD GO AROUND US. If this doesn't happen then what is the point of a premeet seriously.
The best way to stay as group is by pulling out onto the main road into the emergency lane and wait for all members to get out of a car park or street and line up behind each other then when clear of traffic cruise off into the left lane or another way is by driving slow untill all members are in view. This is a better way as staying as a group IMO. Sorry about this but apart from this it was a great day

I agree Mark, same thing happened to me when going to the skidpan day at DECA... People harp on about obeying the laws and speed limits on here, but how many of them actually live up to their words?

Not targeting anyone in particular, its just a pet hate of mine...

The cruise from HQ to when I had to stop. Not when you were leading. The way you did it was the way that it should be done. Well done to you AL
