Talking Got my flash tuner!!!

Got my ford flash 2 tuner from KPM last week, they ended up sending me the wrong coloured screen..the BLUE screen is the one that works with the AU for anyone that is planning on getting a flash 2. I loaded the performance 98 tune on and i am very impressed! the shift points are alot quicker, it kicks down heaps fast and just feels really responsive! I Wanna get it on the dyno soon to get the power figure differences by putting it back to stock then putting it back on the 98 tune.

Id love to see what a custom tune can do for me then, one of there generic tunes had me go from consistent 15.8's to consistent 15.3's, no other mods or anything.

Im not disputing the generic tunes work, all I am saying is that if the tune is done specifically for your car, as opposed to just being done for the model you own (and in which case done with different tolerances to cope with different cars in mind), I think you would get a better result.

It was $795 with the 3 generic tunes, the same ones that they used on the orignal flash tuner. They even threw in free postage (only cauz i asked) haha.

I never thought you were haveng a go, not for one second. I was just saying, if the flash is good for .501 in generic state, imagine what it could do with a custom, its a little exciting.

I would agree

I mean the generic tunes are fantastic! But the custom made tunes would be much better. Kind of like getting a tailor made suit or one off the racks, so to speak

I understand what your sayin dude...and eventually i will be gettin a custom tune done. I just wanted to see how different she would go with a generic one and im quite happy with the result. Just wondering tho when you take ya car in to get a custom tune done what exactly do they change? apart from the obvious...

Brent

when your car is dyno tuned they basically test a number of changes that are designed to specifically work with the mods you have done, and it just allows for a greater level of "tweaking" when you can actually modify the tune there and then with the car to test it on. To give you an idea - my ute has a very worked engine (alloy heads, cam etc etc),there is no way a generic tune would work with it - the only way to tune it is to work with it on the dyno - ie change one thing see if it improves, if it does change it a bit more, if it doesnt change it back etc. I am not too clued up on the very specifics of it but it is things like spark, timing, fuel etc etc that is changed during the tuning process.

Hope this makes sense
