Hi all,
2 weeks ago I noticed the radiator fan staying on for longer than it normally does after shutting the engine off. Checked the coolant level, and needed to top up with 2L of water. Just got it checked out by Park Ford in Bentley, and they say the heater core has a leak. This would explain the smell inside the car, and the fluid loss. They've quoted me nearly $1800 to fix, $400ish is parts, the rest is 10 hours of labour. Now the car is just out of New Car Warranty (October I think), why would the heater core fail at this point in time? Is there anything I can do to work in my favour when dealing with Ford on this? Getting the carpets cleaned free of charge, or replaced or reducing the bill? I really can't afford such a huge bill after only owning the car for 18 months. (Bought in May 2010) |

If its out of warranty u would have to find a REALLY nice ford dealer and I doubt that or go somewhere else. It will be exspensive though, u can guarantee that

Well, I got a call from Ford telling me they will be able to discount it by 70%, since its only just out of warranty
![]() Is the focus known for this problem? Also, does anybody know where you can find the workshop manual for this car? I have the Gregory service and repair manual, but would love to see the proper workshop manual. Cheers |

Not sure about the workshop manual but it sounds as though it's not the sort of job your average backyard mechanic should probably tackle, especially if Murphy frequents in your workshop :(
