Well, jan numbers are in and a drop in sales is predicted…
1 Toyota RAV4 5076 2 Ford Ranger 4254 3 Toyota HiLux 3302 4 Toyota Prado 2847 5 Mitsubishi Outlander 2090 6 Isuzu D-Max 2086 7 Mazda CX-5 1872 8 Kia Sportage 1826 9 Ford Everest 1679 10 Mazda CX-3 1608 Utes copping a bit of a hit compared to Jan 24 however this could be due to dock delays over industrial action, Popular utes such as the Ford Ranger (-10.4 per cent), Toyota HiLux (-19.3 per cent) and Isuzu D-Max (-17.9 per cent) also fell in popularity.

Good numbers for Prado but you wonder if Prado is taking sales away from the L300 after it was outsold again by the old Patrol 621 - 413

Wonder who the mysterious person in this wide, sun drenched continent was who bought the Citroen.
And, more to the point, has it fallen apart yet ?

Actually, can someone explain how a Mazda 6 qualifies as a small car in the <$40K segment, yet suddenly becomes a medium sized car in the <$60K segment ?

Usually January sales figures are a bit down compared to December’s numbers but not making excuses for Ford. Could also be to do with people on holidays or ship timings. I see that Prado had a good month at 2,847 with Everest falling back to 1679 which was anticipated by Bent8 a couple of months ago…. Will be interesting to see if this rate continues. RAV4 sales are strong while conversely, Ford seems to be readying Escape for the chop Hoping South Africa expirement with RHD Chinese Territory extends to our market… |

I really cannot see Tesla's sales continue to go anywhere but down. Doesnt help that Musk is Trump's right hand man.

Putting aside some of the rubbish reviews, has Prado been released with more compromises that pre-order buyers would have liked? Last edited by Dr Smith; 06-02-2025 at 11:51 AM. |

Ah yes ( said in the style of W.C. Fields ). Of course. Just a typo.

"It was a dual-cab disaster in January" "Interestingly, Australia's once-untouchable dual-cab utes were among the hardest hit, with Ford Ranger sales dropping 10 per cent compared to January 2023, while the Toyota HiLux (-19.3 per cent) and Isuzu D-Max (-17.9 per cent) recorded even bigger falls. Thought to be fair, the result was still enough to secure spots two, three and six on the sales charts respectively."

https://www.drive.com.au/news/austra...-january-2025/ Contributing to the decline was a strike at key ports around Australia, which saw tens of thousands of cars stranded offshore for much of the first half of the month as stevedores called for increased pay. |

Is there any information available on the sales figures for the variants in the Everest range? I am curious how the Tremor sales have gone for the last two months.

VW was founded by the guv'ment when Hitler was in power. Buying a VW doesn't mean you align with his views and values. I haven't really seen anything suggesting that Teslas are reliable. Plenty of reported issues with build quality as well. That's the key issue. For the price, they should not have such many forums filled with negative feedback.

Yes but the top five or six brands seem to be affected less than all the others.
Toyota way out in front then Mazda and Ford followed by Hyundai, Kia and Mitsubishi in varying order depending on the month. Those ae the stand out brands for me. Once you get below those brands, monthly sales fall from high 3,000s to low 2,000s by 12th spot. After that is seems to be a long trail comparatively minor sales from lots of brands.. Post 2 in this thread shows them all, wow lots of brands with few sales… I’m not surprised that sales numbers are lower it’s just intersting to see how much choice buyers have. I wonder how many of those vehicles and brands have big stay away sign over permanency and long term support… |

I wouldnt read too much into the port strike situation.
I frequented our port regularly throughout late Dec to end of Jan and although the holding yards were all but empty early on, they were chock a block by mid Jan with truck loads leaving left, right and centre and this is little old Adelaide, can imagine Eastern states would have been processing too. |
