Default TPS/ETC problems XR6 Turbo Ute

Hi Guys

New to the site.

I was recently acquired 2005 Bf XR6 Turbo ute. It hadnt been driven for a long period of time.

I serviced to car, plugs, leads etc etc. but noticed the car was using a lot of fuel and idling at a higher rpm then normal. The etc light came on a couple times after stopping the car and re starting it just to get me home. I attempted to drive the car the next day but the car once started it sent rpm's over 3rpm and came back to just 1rpm and was running like a bastard and almost stalled. I also noticed that I only had half an accelerator pedal.

After plugging ODB11 scanner on it found the STP/ETC the problem. Cleared codes.

I pulled the intake manifold off to get to the ETC, (found that the rubber joiner had perished, which I have since brought a new one and replaced). found that ETC was I need of a clean. Pulled it off to clean and also the TPS but snapped one of the screws. Brought a recon ETC/TPS from a ford dealer. In stalled the new one.
But when I started the car after installing it the car did exactly the same thing as before I changed. There is no codes coming up on the OB11 scanner.

Looking for advice help.

Cheers
Michael.

with the intake off, check if you're actually getting any communication between the accelerator pedal and the throttle body, with the key in the "on" position, with the engine not running, you should be able to see the throttle blade opening & closing in response to the accelerator pedal

If thats working well, you've probably got a failed intake manifold gasket

Yes if its not throttle body related id be looking at the intake manifold gasket as interceptor mentioned, very common and can cause what your describing.
