Default Have I made a poor choice?

After a new addition to the family and a move into the middle of know were it was decided we needed a second car although we couldn't afford one. My father decided we should get a ford falcon station wagon because they go forever and have guts. This is what we bought....

1990 Falcon ea 8 seater wagon 30th anniversary model (307000kms on clock)
(also says it has a 4.1L engine)
Centreline mags with 75 % tread
Saas woodgrain sports wheel
Alloy auto shift handle
Blue neon cd player

4 speed auto-reguarly serviced- smooth changing
Power and economy switch
Factory 8 seater wagon
Dark tinted windows- also factory glass tint!!
Dark bonnet protector
Drivers side wind shield
Fuel injected
Power steering
Airconditioning
Central locking
Theft alarm
Tow bar
Factory roof racks
Safety belts with pre-tensioner
Blue zenon headlights
Registered till april 2006
heaps of spares-though not needed
etc etc

THESE ITEMS BELOW WERE REPLACED APPROX 6 MONTHS AGO AND WERE NEW AT TIME OF REPLACEMENT!!
New exhaust
New monroe shockies
New steering rack and pinion
New ball joints
New head, lifters and camshaft
New heater hoses and radiator hoses
New factory fuel filter
New fan belt etc
New brake pads
New water pump

I paid $2500, have I set myself up (after reading this forum I feel I may have made an error in judgment...) or was this a good deal. Am I likely to have a heap of problems with the EA?

Depending on how far "no where" is from town, as said above , most of the parts have been replaced and should extend it's life. if your only driving to town or such it should be fine.

Pretty tidy for a car of its age. I'd be inclined to agree with everyone else - most of the 'crappy' EAs have long-since died and the ones that are on the road still have probably been looked after and had all of the problems fixed by warranty services, etc...

the big money problems have really been taken care of.
the Head and Water pump being done are the big ones which would suggest it should be fine for some time, the other stuff its more along the lines of normal maintenence.

Kev, the pix were taken by the previous owner.

Thanks for the speedy reply I was begining to stress that I had made a bad decision. I know $2500 is not a lot of money but for a family of 6 its all we had without getting into debt.

4.1L motor (they belong in XF's), it will be a 3.9L motor I hope or 4.0 at the newest.

Otherwise sounds pretty good.

I haven't taken delivery of the car yet, and didn't think to check about the engine...I will call the guy and ask, am I up for trouble if the engine is a 4.1L?

I don't think so valknutr it WOULD be a 4.0L... 4.1s are a very different engine.... found in XF's and earlier.

it looks like a good buy vanessa should suit your needs well and hopefully be trouble free!

I have now taken delivery of my car and i have to say I don't think I have driven a car that is so smooth and easy. I have a late model Magna and in comparison its a bugger to drive. The a/c isn't working and it has a few small problems that I will be getting fixed this week (broken window winder and the windscreen washer doesn't work) so the guy dropped the price to $2100 which does make it quite a good deal.

Does anyone know if I its worth taking it to a detailer to get the insides cleaned it could be just me but it seems grubby and I would like the seats and carpets shampoo'd and the whole thing a clean...has anyone done this and was it worth the money?
