Well the new kit arrived last week, and this weekend we took a little time to attach the front and rear skirts onto the standard bumpers. Problem was that i had stupidly given away my old front bumper and we wrecked the old rear bar when we stuck the origional rear skirt on (not only that, but we accidentally ripped it off it's support), so during the week i had to source a pair of relatively good condition bumpers. Anyways, the rear skirt has been stuck on and currently the front skirt is waiting for the urethane to cure.
Here's some happy snaps... Rear bar curing ![]() Rear bar finished ![]() Front skirt on it's own ![]() Front skirt curing (as it sits now) ![]() Rear bar went on almost perfectly (two little sections at the ends were fouling). Front bar needed a bit more persuasion tho. Overall i'm quite happy with how they sit, but as i said, would have liked the front bar to have gone on a little easier (which should be expected from aftermarket parts). Other problems is that the front will need to be modified slightly to accept the cooler, but that's hardly AWC's fault :P. Also we've decided to fibreglass up the rear exhaust hole and running a dumper a bit further up (as was suggested by Walkinshaw). Since the bonnet had to be moved from it's current spot to make room in the garage, we decided to dummy it up on the car for now, but really we just wanted to get a look at it on the car. Getting excited now... ![]() ![]() Lastly, i installed a set of custom door pods into the ED (my daily car). I've had a set of splits sitting in my closet for around half a year now that i got dirt cheap, so about 2 weeks ago i decided that the factory set up would no longer cut it, and bought a second hand amp for it. Origional plan was for it to be a quick install, just chuck em into the standard spots and be done with it, but nooooooooooooo, the damn magnets fouled the window by about an inch. Only option i had would be to make a set of pods for it, but thought i might aswell put in a little effort which would both make the sound better and also give me a little practice with fibreglassing. So about a week ago i started them and worked on them in any little free time i got, and eventually ended up with this..... ![]() ![]() ![]() Very happy with how they turned out (had two spots were the staples holding the vinyl on show through a little), but other than that they turned out good and sound magnificent. Was thinking of doing them in a matching colour to the interior, but i had a big roll of black vinyl laying around and decided to use that instead. Anyways, that's what i've been upto in the past couple of days ![]()

Looks great, I bet it feels good finally seeing some actual physical progress, and there's nothing better than taking pride in your work either.

![]() So You set a price (reasonable) and I'll send you a money order but don start until you get the money order. What do you say RMYERS? Oh and what does every body thing about my interiour idea... |

Heh, sorry mate but to be honest i have enough to do as it is. They are very easy to make, as i said covering them is the hardest part.
Basically, you just cut out a shape out of MDF to be your base plate (the section that will be flush against the door, doesn;t haveto be thick, the thinner the better IMO). Then, just cut out a ring that you can mount your speaker to. After that, use a small MDF cutoff or two and angle the ring to whatever angle you require and just silicon it into place. After the silicon (or whatever you use) dries, then get a pair of stockings and slip it over the entire frame. This will create the shape of the pod. Next, get some fibreglass resin and matting (they come in kits with everything you need, drop us a PM if your not sure on what you need) and start by brushing on one layer of resin onto the stocking to harden them up, and once they are dry, cut the matting strips and one by one lay them over the pod while brushing a generous amount of resin over them till they soak it up. Make sure to get an even amount of matting on the entire pod and apply another layer if you wish (i only used one). Now, when it's dry, get a sander (grinders prolly better) and cut back all the sharp burs that will inevetably pop up in the fibreglass, then simply get some body filler and cover the pod evenly, wait to dry and sand into shape. That's basically it. If you have any further questions about the fibreglassing or whatever, drop us a PM, but yeah as i said i really am quite busy ATM working on other things. If you had asked me a month ago than I would have had plenty of time but now i'm pretty much devoting my time to getting this damn car ready for the glenmaggie meet.
