Default What Happends When You Run A Red Light...

The guy in the white XR6 Turbo speed through the intersection to try beat the red light, he lost control once through the intersection and collected the hilux and the smaller car, Turbo is a write off... The other 2 cars were in lanes going to other way, so he lost it in a major way to get across that side of the road.

I saw the crash happen and the guy went through the intersection at 80 km/h + its a 60 zone along there. Also, its a straight stretch of road so he lost it while going straight, it had also been ****ing down rain the whole day so the roads were very slippery today.

Even worse the guy has NO INSURANCE at all, not even 3rd party, luckily, nobody was hurt, but more than likely both the XR6T and the Hilux are write offs.

Pics up soon.

As long as the car was registered he'd have CTP but that's not gonna replace the car.

Xr6T- Running a red light with no insurance.

Its days like these i despair for the human race. Well at least the idiot wrote of his car and will have to sell the wreck to pay for damage (shame it was a Ford), and he had to take two innocent sods out with him.

I wish the theory of natural selection would take these guys out of the gene pool. I dont want idiots like that in Fords and i dont want an idiot like that running into my car.

What worse is the 1st car hit was the hilux, his daughter was in the pulsar behind him which was the 2nd car hit, and the mother was in a 3rd car behind them which was narrowly missed.

Young driver - couldn't afford insurance? I've got a mate with a 2000 WRX who can't afford his insurance.

New car - no insurance organised yet?

Wish i had pics of what was left of the hilux, the driver wasnt to happy at being hit by a young driver who had ran a red light so i stayed well clear of him.

The most stupid thing is it is the INSURANCE that he can't afford not to have!!!

If you cant afford the insurance, you can't afford the car!!!!!!

How stupid are some people!!!! I said that to someone the other day, if you can't afford to insure a $35,000 car, you can't afford to replace it as well as someone else's car if ya stack!

The gambles some people take! Why not just take your title to your car and put it all on black!
I know another builder who had all of his tools and trailer stolen. His livliehood, his ability to work and provide for his family. All because he couldnt afford the insurance. He lost $20k worth of tools and trailer, or the equivalent $ value to about 23 years insurance! Lots of economic sense there ey! but i suppose it seemed like a good idea to him at the time!
Never transferred it into his name, rego ran out and no insurance. Caused an accident on a wet day causing damage to 3 other cars. Got $1000 in fines, and was up for damages in excess of $25000. And he was lucky it was only that much! Lucky he didnt hit a mercedes or BMW.

Bad way to end the life of a nice turbo, but i have no sympathy for the dude driving, only for the innocent bystanders that got hit and now have to try and get money out of this tool.

If he can't afford insurance, he shouldn't buy a WRX. He should buy a cheaper car, and get it insured with at least 3rd party. At least then, if he crashes into another car, the other car will be covered.

The owner of the XR6 will be up for a big bill. As well as his own car written off, he will have to pay for the damage to the other two cars. All his own fault, nobody else to blame.

Its about time that it should be made compulsory that everyone on the road has at least third party insurance to cover damage to other vehicles.

Obviously they could afford the car, so there's no excuse for not having the insurance. The premium would be quite high if they drove normally like in this instance, so further reason for compulsory insurance.

These stupid accidents are why the rest of us pay high premiums.

I feel no sympathy at all for the xr6t driver.

From the photos it appears that the driver of the T gave it a right boot full to get through the intersection quickly. A sudden rush of extra power to the rear wheels combined with the wet road was what probably caused him to lose control of the car. People like him should be limited to less then 125kW.

The guy lost control after the intersection, long after he booted it, he had control as he went through the intersection but lost it soon after, i think he may of tried to brake a tad to hard and its locked up on him and put it into the hilux and on and then backwards into the pulsar...

He was way to late for the lights, mine was green and i was halfway into the intersection before i noticed him still coming....

I saw that , He even made the news on Prime Wagga (CH 7) , What a "nutter" .

Now he's up for repairs to Hilux , Pulsar , ..plus fines & No car.. wonder what his credit rating is like ? ? ? because he'll need it. Insurance would have been a lot cheaper. :

(If the car was out of rego ,there'd be no CTP)

He is probably paying off the XR6T as well ... I doubt it's "totally" owned ... especially if you can't afford insurance.

Having dealt first hand with someone that ran a red light (not that I could tell you what he looks like as today I still have never seen his face even - knocked out in crash then straight off to hospital) I have VERY little sympathy for drivers that run lights.
Cars "CAN" be replaced, fixing up people is a whole lot harder!
One of the answers put forward here is that 3rd party(property) insurance should be made compulsory. I'm sure that everyone here knows of at least one person that is a repeat offending driver, that is deemed an "uninsurable risk" and can not get insurance from ANY insurance company. Like one guy I worked with many years back who'd had 22 accidents in a 6 month period, yet STILL HELD a drivers licence.Who do you think will end up subsidising these high risk drivers? Why should I be forced into "compulsory insurance cover" that is less then what I am currently paying out (ie I hold full comprehensive policies on all 3 registered cars in my name)
Perhaps the government? should be reviewing penalties for drivers that are uninsured, or unable to cover the cost of repairs for an accident they've caused within a set timeframe(effectively being a self insurer). This would cover drivers that hold insurance that are "uninsured" at time of accident due to DUI. The current system that allows an at fault party the right to pay off a "victim" at $5 a week for the rest of their life is farcical.

If that was the case, this is why you organise insurance BEFORE picking the car up. It's something that should be researched while choosing a car. No good buying a car then finding out insurance isn't available or prohibitively expensive for the driver.

Im almost too angry to comment. What a tool, lucky he didnt hurt anyone in the process, the cant afford insurance just doesnt cut it with me.

He is driving an XR6T, if he cant adfford to insure it maybe he should have got an older cheaper car.

Idiot. No sympathy what so ever except for the other poor buggers that got hit.
